It seems as though we are becoming a medicated nation. Each day I hear about more and more people being placed on psychotropic medications. Feeling a bit depressed? Here have some Zoloft. Is your child acting out? He must be ADD/ADHD so let's place him/her on medication. While I do agree that some people need to be placed on medications, I believe we, as a nation, have bought into this belief that a pill will fix whatever ails us.
Have we become so absorbed in our daily routines that we can no longer work cope with the problems that ail us or our children? It is time we get back to communicating with those closest to us about how we feel. We need to start spending more time with our children and not expect video games and the internet to take on the role of parent. We would do well to start learning to cope with the stressors in our lives and our children's lives rather than turning to medication as a quick fix.

AMEN brother!! Talk to each other....teach our kids to understand and express their feeling....spend quality time with those you love. It's soooooo simple....y does it seem so difficult for so many?!? My favorite time with my boys is curled up in bed early in the morning, reading a book or just talking...it is time that is absolutely invaluable and teaches me more about who they really are and what goes through those brains of theirs!! :-)

I agree. And while taking pills to fix one thing, you'll inevitably screw up something else that was fine before.
